I’ve downloaded plex onto my laptop, and can stream directly from that to other devices, so its not wifi performance. It found all my videos and played them just fine.
So I thought Id try my Serviio server out instead. Of the 7 flash drives I tried with a video file on it, it simply would not recognize any of the drives (yes the video was in a folder). My sons PS3 is about 3m from the router and it still can’t play anything without stuttering. 1 Thought Id finally test out the media player and its simply unusable. I currently sits in the centre of the house with the router. If I move it closer to my TV in say the living room, then it will be moving further away from other devices. It needs to work as a NAS, so accessible on about 10 devices in the house. Then I came across this GEM, PS3 media server.

The only thing that's changed with my setup is the addition of the 3.56 patch and I can't figure out what else might be causing this. Ive added some new movies to the TVersity library and recently have started having LAG or Stutter issues. Try to move your NAS closer to the device you want to connect to and I guess it would also help if your main wifi hub was also in the same room but maybe the homeplugs will work also. I tried media tomb.where I couldnt customize the HD quality for streaming resulting stuttering video. Since I updated my PS3 Slim with Sony's 3.56 patch I've had stuttering issues with all the movies I'm wirelessly streaming from my PC using PS3 Media Server. No I have a PS3 and still use TVersity because I dont like Media Center. Well im currently streaming the Dark Knight which is 38GB and it’s playing fine but as previously stated the NAS is in the same room as the device I want to stream it to so the distance between the 2 is around 2 metres.
